Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the tentative dates for the subsequent triathlons?
A: There are no dates set at this time, if you have suggestions for our next event, please contact us.

Q: Are there minimum age limits for any of the mini TRI events?
A: There is no defined age minimum to participate in the event while being accompanied by a guardian, though as with anything please use good judgment as to how young is too young for an event like this. All participants under the age of 13 must be accompanied by a guardian at all times.

Q: Will child care be available during the event?
A: Childcare will not be available during the event, please make arrangements for child care before the event.

Q: With the series of three events in the following year, will a beginner be able to join in the middle of the series?
A: Each triathlon will be treated as a completely separate event. At this time, we have no plans to offer the triathlons as a competitive series.

Q: How long are the swim, bike and run?
A: The swim is 150 yards (6 laps in the indoor pool), the bike ride is 6 miles and run/walk is 1.5 miles.

Q: What if I do not have a bike?
A: We will have a small amount of bikes on hand for use.

Q: What if I do not want to do one or more of the events?
A: We encourage the structure of relay teams. For example, a relay team of three would have one person completing a single portion of the event. You may run while your teammates swim and bike.

Q: What is there to do afterward?
A: The YMCA, partnered with Anderson Hospital will provide an interactive, creative health and wellness type event that will provide booths, snacks and education to all participants that complete the event as well as their families and the community.

Q: Can I bring a stroller or bike trailer on the trails?
A: Yes! We encourage family participation so bring along the strollers and the bike trailers and spend the day together being active and healthy!

Q: Will this event incorporate a high level of competition?
A: It is the goal of our event that everyone, of all fitness levels, feels comfortable to compete in our Mini-Triathlon. While there will be some skilled and experienced athletes there will also be first time triathletes and entire families as well.

Q: What if I would like to contribute to the Financial Assistance Fund but I do not want to compete in the event?
A: Please view a registration form for the option of being a virtual triathlete.

Q: Do I have to wear a helmet for the biking portion of the event?
A: Yes, it is required.
